Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium Completes

Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium Completes

We are excited to share that Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium, situated on the outskirts of Nottingham, has been finished after collaborating with Rushcliffe District Council, Ridge + Partners and CDS Group.

Rushcliffe Oaks boasts a spacious ceremonial hall that can hold up to 120 people. The entrance area is equipped with doors and windows that have a unique design, allowing them to be pushed aside to create an open space and expand the room’s capacity.
It has been designed to reflect external materials and has views out to a well-planned reflection garden. The designs were thoughtfully crafted to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment. The materials used are kept understated and simple, with timber accents to create a warm and inviting ambience. The building’s key functions are arranged in a procession, starting from a bright waiting area and leading to the ceremonial hall, which opens up to a beautiful flower court.

The crematorium has been built with the environment in mind and has been named the greenest crematorium in the Midlands. The facility operates as carbon neutral by utilising innovative technologies and renewable energy sources. There is a large cantilevered green ‘living roof’, which serves as an extra habitat for wildlife.
The council has invested in a greener electric-powered cremator, which reduces CO2 emissions by up to 85%, this new technology makes the council one of the first in the country to take such a step. The building also has its own solar panels and energy-efficient lights that help to decrease energy usage while minimising light pollution.
