Planning Approval for Ampthill Development
We are thrilled to share that we have received full planning permission for 8no. one and two-bed affordable homes in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. It’s been a pleasure to work with Grand Union Housing Group and Smith Jenkins to produce this successful outcome.
This development will provide 8no. much-needed social rent and shared ownership dwellings in Ampthill. The site will provide a mix of 5 one-bed and 3 two-bed dwellings. Each dwelling will have on-plot allocated car parking, cycle storage, and refuse storage in line with current CBC standards. Each plot also has a private entrance and terrace providing a good-sized external amenity area.
The proposals have been designed with careful consideration to sit well within the surrounding street and complement the existing built form. By replacing underused and neglected garages, the development will provide much-needed affordable housing and help improve the area, whilst also providing 29no. dedicated visitor parking spaces and upgrade of the access road which will accommodate a more practical refuse collection for existing neighbouring residents.
The design of the facade will draw inspiration from the mews style of dwellings, featuring contemporary architectural details and using high-quality materials. Moreover, the proposed dwellings will be constructed according to the Passivhaus ethos, ensuring a sustainable and long-lasting lifespan.
The proposed design aims to significantly enhance the street and public realm by introducing a level paved shared surface that integrates street trees and landscaping. The overall objective is to create a green and attractive environment that visually connects with the surrounding landscape. Street trees will also make an attractive addition to the streetscape. The design will also provide a substantial increase in biodiversity through the creation of green spaces at ground level, terraces, and green roofs.
