On-site at our Grade II Listed Project in St Albans
We are on-site in St Albans for the restoration and conversion of a 17th-century Grade II Listed building that sits within the St Albans conservation area.
Planning was previously obtained in 2019 to change the use of the first and second floors from office to residential use to create six flats, a first-floor extension with habitable roof accommodation and dormer windows, and replacement of existing dormer windows.
In May 2024, listed building consent was granted for some minor internal changes to the previously approved plans:
• Demolishing two internal walls to expand the layout for Flats 1 and 2.
• Keeping part of an existing corridor opening for access to Flats 3 and 4.
• Removing two small windows on the first floor's external wall in Flat 3.
• Retaining and repairing the existing dormer window in Flat 1's storage space on the second floor.
• Adding an Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) in the roof above the stairs facing Spencer Street.
We have in-house heritage specialists who relish the challenges and complexities these projects bring. If you have a project with similar nuances, please get in touch!
