Benchmark Architects at CBCE 2025
We were proud to exhibit at this year’s Cremation & Burial Communication & Education Conference (CBCE). As the UK’s only CPD-accredited event dedicated to the bereavement services sector, CBCE brought together professionals, operators, local authorities, charities, and design experts from across the country, and we were thrilled to be part of the conversation.
We were located right in the heart of the exhibition space, where we showcased not only our portfolio of crematoria and memorial architecture, but also gave visitors something a little unexpected - a live 3D printer creating miniature branded coffins.
Yes, you read that right.
These tiny, carefully crafted models were a fun, hands-on way to spark conversation about customisation, memorial identity, and the future of design in the sector. They were a surprise hit with delegates, drawing in crowds and smiles in equal measure, and helping us stand out in a room full of innovation.
We also showcased our recent and ongoing work in crematoria and memorial architecture, including our commitment to sustainable design, community-first planning, and beautifully considered spaces that reflect the changing needs of the sector.
From concept to completion, we shared how our projects prioritise both operational efficiency and emotional resonance, spaces that are not only functional but sensitive, inclusive, and enduring.
The event gave us a fantastic opportunity to speak directly with crematorium operators, local authorities, and other professionals working across the bereavement care landscape. It was inspiring to hear about the challenges and aspirations shaping the sector today, from evolving environmental legislation to increasing demand for flexible, modern spaces that support diverse communities.
We enjoyed many insightful conversations around topics including:
• Net-zero design and environmental permitting
• Digital memorialisation and emerging technologies
• Inclusive design for multi-faith and non-religious services
• Retrofitting and reimagining existing crematoria
Our attendance at CBCE 2025 reinforced our belief that architectural design plays a vital role in shaping experiences of remembrance, grief, and community. We're continuing to work on several crematoria and memorial projects across the UK and internationally, and look forward to sharing more on these in the coming months.
If we connected at the event, thank you for stopping by. And if you didn’t make it but would like to learn more about our work in this space (or simply want one of our now-famous mini coffins), get in touch.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
