Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium On-Site
 Â
Following a site visit last week it is exciting to see that works are progressing well on site at the Rushcliffe Oaks Crematorium development.
Having inherited a previous planning consent, we sought to develop a simplified building form, focusing on a large cantilevered green roof. Flanking walls screen private areas of the building. Key building functions are arranged to follow the processional route; from a light filled waiting area through to the ceremonial hall, leading out to a simple flower court. The ceremonial hall is generous, designed to reflect external materials, and has views out to a well-planned reflection garden. The introduction of a roof lantern to this room adds height, light and focus.
The proposed designs have been carefully considered to sit well within the existing area, with materials being kept muted and simple with timber added in areas to promote warmth and a welcoming atmosphere. Both internally and externally the muted materials are accented with bronze to reflect the quality of this public building.
It is due for completion before the end of this year and we look forward to seeing it completed.
