Planning Application Submitted in Watford

Plans have been submitted in south-west Watford, for the redevelopment of nos. 495 – 499 Whippendell Road. The development will see 19 high quality residential flats ranging from 1 bed studio flats to 3-bedroom flats with associated common facilities, landscaping, bin and cycle stores and outdoor dedicated external amenity spaces. The development also includes 3 x 3-bedroom mews houses.

The new scheme will introduce small pockets of landscaping throughout the site. At the main entrance, a new area of defensible landscaping will feature, improving the public realm / street scene. Moving through the site, smaller landscaping pockets have been introduced to the front of the proposed mews houses. These built-in landscaping features will introduce additional green space in what is predominantly a hard standing courtyard area. Overall, the ecology of the site will be improved from the enhanced planting / biodiversity which will be incorporated through the introduction of new landscaping areas.

The proposal will make a significant and positive contribution to Whippendell Road. The building façade is animated with high quality materials and a modern design which relates to the surrounding context. Its scale stitches the surrounding building heights and the roof profile provides added interest to the streetscape.

We look forward to the determination of the application due early next year.
