On a Build to Rent Roll!

Our latest BtR scheme – Sandacre Street, Leicester, is pending approval. Proposals to create a new residential development of 267 dwellings with associated communal and amenity spaces with new landscaped areas on a 4880sqm site in the centre city of Leicester were submitted for planning back in January 2018.

The proposal includes a total of 267 1-bed, 2-bed and studio apartments. The buildings range from 4 to 12 storeys in height. A larger wider approach to Short Street has been taken and the 4 storey buildings predominantly face onto this new public space and the adjacent warehouses buildings. A generous pedestrian landscape is proposed with same surface vehicle movement. Two taller blocks cut across the site running east west and are stepped from 7, 9 and 12 storeys. These blocks are divided vertically in design to emphasis the vertical on the Sandacre and Gravel Street edges. A central courtyard between the buildings allows sunlight and views through the site east to west.

The final proposed elevations around the principle streets tell the whole story of the project; the varied building heights, materials and building cladding work together to create a striking high-quality collection of buildings which connect to the wider city scape and the historic context.

It has been great working in conjunction with West London Properties and Delph Property Group on this scheme which will bring a fresh energy to this corner of Leicester, currently used as a surface carpark and surrounded by walls and hoarding. We are anticipating a planning decision to be determined in the coming days.
