Planning Approved at Bromham Mill

Planning Approved at Bromham Mill

Benchmark Architects is delighted to announce that we have received full planning approval in the historic village of Bromham for the renovation and development of Bromham Mill.

Our proposed design aims to transform The Mill's current setup. The shop will be converted into a nature club, while the mill will be transformed into a gallery and museum. Mill House will be repurposed into a well-being centre, and the front barn will house The Mill Coffee Shop.
The Stables will be subdivided into four retail units and one plant unit, while The Workshop will be turned into two commercial units. Additionally, new welfare facilities and commercial units will be constructed.
The design includes a total of 74 parking spaces, 10 of which are E.V spaces, and can accommodate up to 46 bicycles.

Bromham Mill is a grade II listed building and has been owned and maintained by Bedford Borough Council since 1973 until 2022 when ownership was transferred to Bromham Parish Council. The Mill is a multi-phase building of stone, brick and half-timbered, standing close to the medieval Bromham bridge with its long causeway. The stone portion of the building bears the date 1858, which likely reflects the date it was rebuilt. There are earlier dates elsewhere, but these may relate to flooding events rather than the mill’s construction.

The proposed design will significantly and positively contribute to the village of Bromham and the wider surrounding area. Watch this space for regular updates and developments on site.
