New Generation of Crematorium Design

Our stunning circular, white brick crematorium design with contrasting gold cladding is now complete. Huntingdon Town Council commissioned us to design a new build crematorium and burial ground for the district. Working closely with the council, CDS Group and Kier, we developed this scheme on land adjacent to Jubilee Park, located North East of central Huntingdon and we are delighted with the finished build.

With a strong desire to make this modern facility future proof and sustainable, Huntingdon installed two @DFW electric cremators in the new crematorium. Electric cremators can provide improved energy efficiency with a single cremation saving approximately 113.4kg of CO2 emissions compared to a gas cremation. That is the equivalent of saving up to 12,000 trees every year! Electric cremators also have the advantage of being powered by renewable energy sources to reduce demand on fossils fuels, as well as integrating heat recovery technologies to reuse the heat generated during the cremation process.

The new burial ground will provide approximately 2700 plots plus natural burial and expansion provision. The new build crematorium has been designed to accommodate a flexible multifaith hall for 100+ people and the associated crematory facility. In addition there is a building within the ground designed to provide multi-use function rooms and catering facilities.
